PRIMARY DUTIES: The Managing Director, Public Company Liability, leads a regional team of underwriters and collaborates at all levels to drive growth and profitability for product suite offered Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Employee Dishonesty/Crime, Kidnap & Ransom, ID Fraud & Cyber Liability.

S/he has the opportunity to deploy solid technical underwriting acumen, excellent relationship skills and sound management practices while striving for superior team performance.

The successful Managing Director collaborates effectively throughout the Public Company Liability segment, working with the Regional Vice President and Home Office/Business Unit leadership to develop and implement sales and underwriting strategies in the region.

S/he also partners with the regional leadership of all Travelers business units to develop regional strategies and deliver effective cross-selling tactics.

The Managing Director role is a prime opportunity for an outgoing individual with strong underwriting abilities and leadership experience to execute on the strategy and have a real impact on company results.

S/he will work with exceptional people at all levels; manage experienced high performers; mentor and grow less experience underwriters; and learn from some of the best leaders in the industry.

The objective of the role is to successfully manage front-line production underwriters (Account Executives) in the pursuit and management of a book of Public Company Liability business.

This involves the creation and management of agent/broker relationships, strategic planning, tactical implementation and superior underwriting management.

To be considered, a candidate must have: 1. solid, dedicated Public Company or Management Liability underwriting experience 2. strong leadership skills 3. preferred staff management experience leading underwriters 4. exceptional communication and interpersonal skills 5. extensive sales, marketing and relationship-building experience Travelers is an equal opportunity employer.
